How does Natural Lip Blushing work?

Lip blushing provides a non-invasive, painless cosmetic tattoo treatment for your lips.

Numbing and shaping

First, we apply a specialised numbing cream to your lips for 15-20 minutes. Next, we draw the shape of your “new” lips, allowing you to review and make any changes. We also provide pigment colour recommendations, showing you how they will look immediately and how they’ll fade over time.

During the treatment

We use a cosmetic tattoo gun on a gentle setting to apply your chosen pigment to your lips. The entire treatment takes around 2 hours to complete, and we apply a secondary numbing cream for your maximum comfort.

Healing and touch ups

During the healing stage, the lip blush tattoo fades between 30-50%, leaving behind a natural pop of colour and a beautiful, full shape. A natural lip blushing tattoo typically lasts from 1-3 years.

After the treatment, we guide you through the aftercare process in detail. We recommend yearly touch-ups to prevent natural fading, and our overall cost includes a touch-up later on.

Preparing for your upcoming lip blushing treatment

Lip blushing (lip tattoo) is a subtle approach to create a fuller lip whilst restoring colour, shape, definition and symmetry. It is an ideal treatment to perfect your pout. Whether you’re looking for a subtle pop of colour or to define and contour your shape, this is your go-to beauty treatment.
Using naturally toned pigments to blend and shade within the natural lip and lip line, lip blush tattooing will create the illusion of fuller and more even lips.

PLAN AHEAD

There is mild swelling for the first 24-48 hours after your lip blushing treatment. We recommend you anticipate this when considering social plans. After your lip blush treatment, be prepared that your lips will be slightly bold.  Don’t stress though – the colour will fade by between 30-50%.

SMOOTH LIPS

Moisturise your lips and stay hydrated a few days prior to your appointment. 24 hours prior to your lip blush appointment, exfoliate your lips.

THINGS TO AVOID

  • 24 hours prior to your lip blush appointment, do not drink alcohol or caffeine.
  • 72 hours prior to your lip blush treatment, DO NOT take Advil or other blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, aspirin, Niacin or vitamin E, unless medically necessary.
  • No waxing, tanning or tinting 3 days prior to your appointment.

What happens each day after your lip blush treatment

Day 1: After treatment, your lips may present mild swelling and appear bright and bold.

Day 2: Mild swelling (if present) begins to dissipate. Lip colour is still quite bold – the same coverage as a sheer lipstick.

Day 3-5: Lips have almost completed initial healing. Mild flaking and dryness will have finished by now.  Colour may appear uneven or darker / lighter in some areas.

Day 10-50: Lip colour begins to even out. Facing occurs during this stage of healing. Colour MAY seem to fade more than desired or take on a slightly different tone than desired. At the 2 week mark, you’ll notice the true colour start to appear.

Day 35-40: Colour has settled into the desired look.

Day 50+: Your lips are now healed and ready for your touch up. This is when we make slight adjustments, where needed.
